How To Find Cheap Flights

Finding cheap flights is important when you’re trying to travel on a budget! Flights are usually the biggest expense when traveling to your destination. So how do you cut cost? How is it possible to still be able to enjoy your trip without breaking the bank?

I have a few tips and resources for you to use that will help ease your stress. Travel planning can be easy! Last year I flew from Los Angeles to Bangkok for $380. WHAT?! Yes that’s not a typo it’s really how cheap the ticket cost! How do I find these cheap flights??

Hopper

Hopper is an app that allows you to “watch” a trip by date, time, and location! It’s one of the best apps in my toolbox for finding cheap flights. Put in your dates and location and click search. From there you can see by month and day which times are cheaper to buy tickets.

If you find that the tickets are still out of your price range, Hopper will tell you their price prediction. Hopper will tell you if it will rise or fall. Meaning, you could wait to buy when the price drops for a cheaper rate. Set it up to watch the trip and it will send you alerts when the prices change. It’s saved me hundreds of dollars and it’s extremely user friendly! The only downside is that it doesn’t show all airlines.

Skyscanner

Skyscanner is a similar app and website where you can find cheap flights. It’s different in that you can set alerts for specific flights. The website scans all major airports to find the cheapest tickets. The site can show majority of the airlines to give you a reference and your preference.

Search for your destination and dates, wait for Skyscanner to pull up the results. They will give you the cheapest flight first and rate it based on it’s price and flight time etc. I bought my $380 ticket through Skyscanner!

Airline & Travel Credit Cards

After you find the cheap flights take advantage of using a travel credit card or airline miles to pay for the flight. If you don’t have a travel credit card and you plan on traveling a lot I highly suggest it!

My personal favorite is the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card which I use and has amazing perks. I wanted it especially because there is no foreign transportation fee, it’s widely recognized, and they give you 60,000 points for spending in the first few months! That’s a flight abroad alone.

All you have to do is apply and once approved can start racking in the points! For Airline Miles I suggest staying with one or even two airlines to earn points on. This can save you by using the miles instead of out of pocket expense.

Expedia

If you are a bundle kinda traveler then using a site like Expedia to bundle your flights and hotels could save you some cashola! Now if you also need a car, tack that on and just bundle the crap out of your vacation.

Expedia also has different sales, discounts, and promotions. This could help discount the price even more!  They will send you alerts when savings/discounts are available for signing up to their newsletter.

So get to planning your next vacation on a budget! With all of these resources and tips to pull from you should be on a flight in no time. I hope you get some amazing deals in the process.
