Spring Break Budget Travel Ideas

Spring Break trips on a budget are definitely a possibility. With the right destination, budget tips, and travel hacks you can have a great vacation for cheap. From tropical to snow destinations, find out which suits you best. Take a load off from school, travel with the kids, or a friends trip to any of these destinations without breaking the bank.

Breckenridge

Colorado is the perfect spring break location for snow lovers. You can hit the slopes and ski, snowshoe, sled, and make that snow man! Not to mention that Airbnb has great houses you can rent for the week and it’s cheaper than the resorts. Surrounding towns like Silverthorne and Frisco have cheaper houses and a free shuttle to Breckenridge for all of the activities.

Main street is littered with shops, restaurants, brewery restaurants, coffee shops and more. If skiing isn’t your thing there is still plenty to enjoy!

Destin

With white sandy beaches, clear blue waters, and plenty of activities to do Destin, Florida is a perfect little getaway. Snorkel, swim, fish, shop and enjoy the nightlife in Destin. With a group of people renting a condo through VBRO or Airbnb is the best/cheapest option.

Stay close to the beach and walk around the Destin Harbor Boardwalk, go shopping, enjoy the restaurants (a lot of fish options), and the beautiful scenery. Crab Island Cruises to a beautiful spot and it’s more of a party spot but you can definitely see some marine life here too!

San Diego

There is more to do in San Diego than just beach related activities! Explore the number one zoo in the country, Old Town, Balboa Park,  North Coastal Neighborhood, and Point Loma for a panoramic viewpoint. With plenty to see and do you might want to watch the sunset and slow it down a little.

If sunsets are your thang, take a stroll or sit and enjoy the view. Popular spots are at Crystal Pier, Windansea Beach, Sunset Cliffs (Ocean Beach), Coronado Beach, Ocean Side Peir, and Mr A’s Rooftop Bar and Patio in Downtown (12th Floor).

Manhattan

New York has the wrap for being an expensive city and you’re right it can be. But, there are a few travel tips that can help cut costs. Skyscanner can help with flights and you don’t have to buy round trip sometimes one-way flights end up being cheaper. Airbnb is my favorite if you want to book cheaper than a hotel. My favorite areas to stay in are Chelsea and Greenwich Village probably because it looks most like the Friends set!

Don’t waste money and time on Taxi’s and take the Metro if you want the most affordable mode of transit. Taxi’s can get stuck in traffic and end up being more of a burden than convenience.

Chicago

Sightsee Chicago on budget! Most of the activities are FREE and or cheap to get around the city and see each one. You can’t miss the Bean and Millennium Park, Magnificent Mile, Buckingham Fountain, Navy Pier and Continental Wheel. There is so much to do and see in Chicago.
