Vegan Food Guide To Los Angeles

Eating out as a Vegan or any dietary restriction can be difficult except if you’re in a place like Los Angeles. There are so many options to eating out I didn’t have a single bad experience there. All of the recommendations I give I really am truly excited to share because no lie it was actually difficult to choose between what I wanted on the menu. That never happens usually there are maybe 2 or three options when I go out to eat in Texas. Majority of the restaurants are easy to eat out on a budget and enjoy some yummy treats!

Elderberries

Elderberries Threefold Cafe is in between Hollywood and West Hollywood on Sunset. The cafe itself is really quaint, warm and inviting. The food is all Vegan, Gluten Free, and Organic. So it’s safe to say I was on cloud nine and had a hard time choosing what to eat! I had the Protein Wrap which was under the breakfast category. Basically a quinoa, cheesy, vegetable wrap(GF) and sweet potatoes on the side.

Usually portions can be small if going to a Vegan restaurant but I left so full and stuffed with the large portion size! Not to mention the delicious coffee they serve in cute little glass jars. Elderberries is also a meeting spot for many activists and they support each other as you can see from the inspirational wall quotes.

Veggie Grill

Veggie Grill is a chain that you can find in a lot of different areas of the city. I went to one in the downtown area and it was great! I had the TLT (tempe) sandwhich and fries which both were delicious. The flavor was pretty tasty and now I know that it’s not real bacon but when a restaurant gets the flavor right it can come close! If you are in the need for a quick bite then Veggie Grill is really easy to pick up and go. Not everything is Vegan/GF but can be made that way upon request. The GF bun was extra of course but price was pretty reasonable when it comes to food in LA.

Tocaya

Located in Venice near the beach this AWESOME taco restaurant was a great and CHEAP pick me up. On Taco Tuesday the tacos are just $2 and happy hour is half priced drinks! So if you are trying to save money eat here on a Tuesday haha. All in all it’s not super expensive anyways. They had corn tortillas, and I chose the “chicken” option for my tacos plus Vegan Cheese. I’m pretty sure it was a Daiya brand of cheese that they mixed with some spices. Because they were corn tortillas they were a little small but Tocaya’s has a full sized gluten free burrito that looked pretty damn tasty too!

800 Degrees Woodfired Kitcken (Hollywood)

I’m always a fan of finding the best GF/Vegan pizzas when I travel and will have to add this to my list of favorites! I had what would be like a Pesto pizza and built my own so I could have what I wanted on top. This restaurant isn’t completely vegan but has something for everyone. I was traveling with a larger group than usual so this was a perfect fit for the whole lot of us.

You can build your own pizza, salads, wraps/sandwiches , variety of entrees, bowls, etc. You name it and they should have it on the menu. usually Eating out with a mix of dietary restrictions in a group can be hard but 800 Degrees was a great fit and experience for everyone. Plus the price was just right!

Plant, Food, and Wine

Plant, Food, And Wine was an interesting find in Venice. I chose to sit outside and the back patio reminded me of Parenthood with the big farm table and benches! A little oasis within the city center. The food was tasty but EXPENSIVE. It was $35 for a bowl of plant food haha and if I wasn’t so hungry I probably would’ve found something else. But I will say that if your budget calls for it then go for it. Sometimes I splurge a little on food because why not? It can make you feel full and body happy/healthy.

True Earth Vegan

I don’t get to eat certain foods anymore because I’m GF/Vegan so when I came across True Earth Vegan in North Hollywood I was so excited! They had a cheeseburger with Mac and Cheese on top (I opted for on the side) but it was one of the most healthy/unhealthy foods I ate in LA. The restaurant doesn’t look like much but the food was AMAZING!

I took it to go and enjoyed it on the patio of my Airbnb which had an awesome view of Studio City/Universal. The burger had great flavor and the mac and cheese was pretty great as well. Usually you order mac and cheese or try to make the vegan version at home and for me comes out a little cardboard-ish. It was a nice change of flavor and palate.

Real Food Daily

I can’t pick a favorite but I might have saved the best for last! Real Food Daily has the BEST Mexican Street Tacos I have ever had. They come with three and I added some of their melted Vegan Cheese on the side to drizzle on top of my tacos. Annnnnd now I’m currently craving tacos. It was hard to decide because the entire menu looked delicious with Vegan/GF options to enjoy! The price was pretty reasonable and the restaurant itself is quaint and low key environment. If you have a chance you need to try it out!

I think I could live in California for the food alone. “I’m only here for the food” It is a stark difference from being able to eat out at so many places vs the options living n Texas.

I hope that this food guide gave you ideas and maybe got you excited to food hop around Los Angeles. Don’t forget to follow my blog via email to get updates and new content when they come out! Cheers!
