Clever Ways To Save Money In The Bahamas

The Bahamas can be an expensive place to travel to but with these tips you can save your money. I don’t think you have to spend a fortune on vacation to have a great time. There is plenty of fun in the sun to be had in the Bahamas! Scroll down for all of the details on saving for your Bahamian vacation.

Airbnb

I usually don’t stay in hotels anymore and choose Airbnb. The prices are better, you can stay in whatever area you want, and there are plenty of activity packages that Airbnb also sells. They will pull “excursions” or activities in the area you are looking at to give ideas of things to do.

The App will also send you notifications if that time/area is booking up fast for you travel dates. You pick a destination, price range, number of guests, etc. If you have a large group you can also split the payments between you so one person isn’t stuck with the bill. That is probably one of my favorite features!!

It was definitely cheaper to stay in an Airbnb in a nice area vs overpaying for a resort.

Cheap Flights

Hopper and Skyscanner are my favorite flight prediction and saving apps. Both apps are great to book and watch flights to get the best deal for your money. No one wants to overpay for flights if you can watch them ad buy at the right time, you can spend on other things.

I use both apps to book and watch any/all of my trips! It really has saved me lots of time and money.

Off Season

Spring and Summer months are most popular for visiting the Caribbean but you can save by visiting during the “winter months”. The Bahamas is warm year around but cruises and prices can be cheaper in those winter months and aren’t as packed with tourists!

Free Activities

Who doesn’t like FREE activities?? Of course the beach, snorkeling, hiking, and finding beautiful picture spots are all free to explore in the Bahamas! I have a few favorite beaches and activities in Nassau for you to explore.

  • Cabbage Beach: Don’t go to the populated resort end of the beach because the sand and water aren’t as clean. There is a spot in between resort and residential sections of the beach towards the east.
  • Hike up the Queen’s Staircase in downtown Nassau or walk around the Primeval National Park.
  • Pack snorkel equipment in your luggage if you can. For my FAVORITE snorkel mask click here. You feel like Darth Vader but it’s the best mask there is and doesn’t make me feel like I’m drowning haha.
  • Little secret is that you can explore some of the Resort beaches in the evening and get those IG pics without having to do a day pass!

Where To Eat

Every excursion or activity that you pay for leaves from the Margaritaville docks on Paradise Island. They have one of the best salads and I still crave it! Atlantis’ Marina Village can be pricy but you can also find some great and cheap spots to eat inside.

The Green Parrot was a cheap and authentic experience but I think my favorite place to eat was Blue Sail! The food was amazing, the price reasonable, and the views priceless!

I love the Bahamas but it can sometimes be expensive so I hope you can use these tips to save some money. I have yet to stay in a resort in the Bahamas and I’m able to get both the authentic and tourist feel of Nassau.

Knowing what to save and spend on can make or break a vacation in my opinion! If you’re a penny pincher like me I hate spending more on something than I needed to.
