Romantic Destinations Abroad For Couples

With Valentine’s coming up in February you might want to know where you can go for a romantic getaway on a budget. Ranging destinations from tropical to city lovers you can find a vacation abroad that will fit the two of you. Scroll down to see what romantic vacation awaits!

Bahamas

Stay on Nassau Island in the Bahamas and experience the clear blue waters, palm trees, and plenty of water activities on your vacation. I recommend staying in an Airbnb which is cheaper than a resort. They have them on Paradise Island where all of the touristy action is and you can walk around. If you want to explore the main island then rent a car and get both the local and tourist sides of the coin.

To book your activities go to Atlantis. At the Tours & Excursion Desk in the Coral Towers they can help you pick/book everything.  All of the activities leave from the Margaritaville docks and while you wait sip on a tropical drink or enjoy some food. Grand Cayman

Take a cruise and sail to places like Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Jamaica, etc. By taking a cruise you have all of your hotel, transportation, and food included in the price. The only add ons are the excursions and you can choose based on price or event. You can set and determine how much you do or don’t want to spend on the boat.

I personally love Royal Caribbean and have cruised with them many times and their Crown and Anchor membership allows you to have room credits, save on future tips, get deals and discounts. And all I had to do was create an account there are no fees involved with it!

Tulum

Visit Tulum, Mexico and skip the crowds of Cancun. There is plenty to do in Tulum with underwater caves, beautiful beaches, diving, great food, and people. Flights can be pricy so see what they have on Skyscanner to cut costs. They aren’t always the most convenient times but if you want to stay on budget it can help.

Airbnb is great but you might have to pay a little more to be closer to the beach. If you want to bundle your flight and hotel Expedia has some great deals. There are many options to saving on vacation! For more on what to do and where to stay in Tulum check out The Blonde Abroad’s Ultimate Tulum Travel Guide.

Santorini

Santorini is to be considered one of the most romantic destinations in Europe. Explore their blue waters, volcanoes, beautiful picturesque towns and sunsets. Stay in beautiful sea side apartments for as little as $50/night on Airbnb. Make the most out of your vacation and rent low so you can spend on other activities.

Take a cooking class, enjoy the beach, and you don’t have to stay in one town the entire time. Move airbnb locations if you want to take it easy in each place on the island. Santorini is perfect for your getaway.

Paris

Paris is such an amazing city and one I love to visit. It’s coined the “City of Love” which will be perfect for your romantic getaway abroad. It will still be cold there this time of year so bundle up! For flight and hotel deals, Expedia has bundles to help you save on costs. Flights across the pond are usually the largest chunk of change to spend on and to have it bundled with a hotel can sometimes help keep the budget low.

I would recommend taking the Metro system and you can find out more about it and how to navigate from my post on Transit, Food, and Shopping in Paris.

Rome

Rome is a beautiful city to escape to and easy to get by on a budget. With the cheap transit system, Airbnb rental, and delicious food, you can’t go wrong. Some of my favorite neighborhoods to stay in are Monti, Trastevere, and City Center near Termini Station. All of these areas are easy to navigate and have an amazing feel and authenticity to them. My post Backpackers Guide For Navigating Rome for more on their transit system.

A few travel hacks for the city people may not know is that on the first Sunday of every month the Colosseum and many museums are FREE. Don’t waste money on a guide either! Do a self audio tour ticket if you really want the info on what you are seeing. I have many tips on Rome because I lived there for three months and it’s one of my favorites to go back and visit!

Budget travel is my favorite because then you are able to see plenty of places on your Bucket List without having to break the bank.

With this list of budget friendly places to visit you will have an amazing time with your significant other! And if you’re single then you can still take all of the tips that I used and apply them to each location.
