Cruise The Caribbean (West Side)

Taking a cruise is a great stress-free way to go on vacation! I have gone on a few and have loved each one. I don’t have any affiliation with them but my favorite cruise line is Royal Caribbean! The amenities, they had gluten-free options, great excursions, etc. My Caribbean cruise set sail out of Galveston, TX and its first port was Cozumel, Mexico.

Cozumel, Mexico

Here we took a Mayan Ruin and Beach Day excursion. The Mayan Ruins weren’t as impressive as the ones on the mainland and that’s in part because the owner of the land blew up some of it. We were introduced to some of the traditions, language, and numerical system of the Mayan culture on this excursion by our guide.

On our beach section of the excursion, we ventured to a nice area with a restaurant and little straw umbrellas along the beach. There we could eat, drink, and explore the beach.

Grand Cayman, Grand Cayman

We chose a Beach, Snorkel, and Kayak excursion. This was no joke because you had to kayak a mile to your snorkel destination in the ocean and then a mile back to the beach afterward. This really depends on your kayak buddy that can either help get you to the snorkel beach quicker or like me zig-zagging through waves and in/out of the barrier lines haha.

We had a lot of fun and it was a good workout in the sun! If you are of legal age they also provide you with a ticket for Rum punch or just tropical punch.

Falmouth, Jamaica

Here we went on a Zip, Tube, and Slide excursion. This was ziplining in the jungle trees of Jamaica, tubing in the “river” down to your spot, and we also lounged by the pool for a bit at the zip line hub. I’m not really sure where the slide part came into play. There was a small ramp or slide into the river so maybe that was it.

Cruising Days

There is plenty to do on a cruise ship on the days you are just cruising! The bigger the ship the more activities you have to explore. The Voyager Class is usually what I take on Royal Caribbean.

In your room, you will find a little guide of things to do on board with times, locations, inside info, etc. If you are a Crown and Anchor member you can get discounts and invites to more events during your stay. For members the more cruises you go on and rack up the points, the more you get back in discounts and future trips, etc. Trust me there is plenty to do on the cruise ship with different pools, hot tubs, restaurants, bars, events, shows, ice rink, casino, parades, shopping, spa, wellness center, and the list goes on!

I hope this has helped you in planning your travels! If you have any questions/comments, please feel free to email me in the contact section. If you like what you see don’t forget to follow my blog for updates, travel tips, and more! Bon Voyage!
