Travel Destinations For After Graduation

If you’re about to graduate from high school, college, maybe even a Masters you need a vacation! Get out of that school mode and into the ocean breeze. I know after I graduated in 2015 you are exhausted and just need a mental break to be able to go into your new job or back to work feeling refreshed. I put together a list of affordable destinations you can set off to this summer. With some travel tips and tricks I recommend you’ll be sitting on a beach in no time!

Cruise

Taking a cruise is a great stress-free way to go on vacation! I have gone on a few and have loved each one. My favorite cruise line is Royal Caribbean! The amenities, they had gluten-free options, great excursions. It’s an all inclusive option and you choose whatever excursion to go on(extra) and can stay on budget.

In your room, you will find a little guide of things to do on board with times, locations, inside info, etc. If you are a Crown and Anchor member you can get discounts and invites to more events during your stay. For members the more cruises you go on and rack up the points, the more you get back in discounts and future trips. Trust me there is plenty to do on the cruise ship with different pools, hot tubs, restaurants, bars, events, shows, ice rink, casino, parades, shopping, spa, wellness center, and the list goes on!

Bahamas

Stay on Nassau Island in the Bahamas and experience the clear blue waters, palm trees, and plenty of water activities on your vacation. I recommend staying in an Airbnb which is cheaper than a resort. They have them on Paradise Island where all of the touristy action is and you can walk around. If you want to explore the main island then rent a car and get both the local and tourist sides of the coin.

To book your activities go to Atlantis. At the Tours & Excursion Desk in the Coral Towers they can help you pick/book everything.  All of the activities leave from the Margaritaville docks and while you wait sip on a tropical drink or enjoy some food. Tulum

Visit Tulum, Mexico and skip the crowds of Cancun. There is plenty to do in Tulum with underwater caves, beautiful beaches, diving, great food, and people. Flights can be pricy so see what they have on Skyscanner to cut costs. They aren’t always the most convenient times but if you want to stay on budget it can help.

Airbnb is great but you might have to pay a little more to be closer to the beach. If you want to bundle your flight and hotel Expedia has some great deals. There are many options to saving on vacation! For more on what to do and where to stay in Tulum check out The Blonde Abroad’s Ultimate Tulum Travel Guide

Thailand

Thailand is a GREAT destination for vacation. Warm sun, CHEAP accommodations, well cheap everything really, and happy people. What’s not to love? Visit Thailand’s southern borders and Island hop your way to happiness. I loved Krabi, Koh Phi Phi, and Koh Samui. I have blog posts on each location to give you a more in-depth idea of each place.

Easy to get around, low cost accommodations, food is only about $2-3 USD, and if you are going to touristy areas and islands most people speak english. I would recommend that you at least try to learn a few phrases before going. Just making a little effort can go a long way!

Indonesia

There’s a variety of Islands in Indonesia to explore but my favorite and well the few I’ve traveled to are Bali and the Nusa Islands. Not all of Bali’s beaches are the best but there are a few that deliver!  Relax by the beach, explore the jungle, hike a volcano, swing over a rice terrace, and eat amazing fooooood.

The Nusa Islands are a 30 minute boat ride (speed boat there is no other way) from Bali. If you can ride a motorbike you will be set and have a cheap stay on the islands. I took a snorkel trip for 4 hours @ $10 USD. Not too shabby!

Budget travel is my favorite because then you are able to see plenty of places on your Bucket List without having to break the bank. With this list of budget friendly places to visit you will have an amazing time !

You just accomplished a major life milestone! Take some time to celebrate that and acknowledge how awesome you are.
