London: Transit, Shopping, and Food

London is an amazing city and easy to navigate! Once you have that down the sky is the limit on what to see and do. Who doesn’t want to now the best areas to shop and eat?! Scroll down to find out my recommendations.

Transportation

There are several options to getting around London with ease. The Underground Metro, buses, Taxi, or The Big Bus Tour. I chose to take The Big Bus Tour like a taxi and hop on and off at many locations. This was a great way to see the city, have historical information, and get from one sight to the next. The only disadvantage of doing this is time. It can take a long time to go sightseeing from one place to the next or just with traffic/construction. After the first day and a half, it became tedious and wasn’t the best form of transit for the whole stay.

If you want to avoid traffic and get around a little quicker if you’re strapped for time I would take the Underground Metro. There are stops all across the city and it’s easy to navigate. There are different pass options but the simplest and cheaper option is the Visitor Oyster Card. This is an electronic card that you can use to scan when getting on/off of Metro to go anywhere in the city. You can use it on buses, trams, etc. The prices vary during peak times and the Visitor Oyster Card has a cap limit per day.

Shopping

London has some great shopping areas around the city! Check out stores in Soho, Kensington Street, Knightsbridge where Harrods is located, and Oxford Street.

Food

It is a MUST to go to a local pub and have a beer (if legally able) and fish and chips! I found The Albert which is a picture perfect representation of a British pub. It’s a good walk from Westminster Abbey but worth it!

If you are just wanting a quick bite to eat there are plenty of restaurants on Kensington Street, Soho (trendy),  and Brixton which also has the Brixton Market.

I hope this helps you plan your stay in London! If you have any questions or comments feel free to comment. If you like what you see don’t forget to follow my blog via email for new tips and updates! You don’t want to miss out on any tips for your next adventure! Cheers!
