How Does A Blog Work?

Most people ask me: You have a blog right? How does that work? How do you turn that into an income? Do you just post pictures and IG pays you?

Yes, I have a blog seeing as you’re reading it right now! You can turn a blog into a business and make an income online with it, but no IG doesn’t pay me just for posting to its platform.

If someone wanted to create a blog to just share with friends and family you can go to WordPress or Bluehost and get a domain (website) and just start designing and writing.

For those like myself that wanted to turn it into a business, there was a learning curve! You can start the same way it’s just where you want that blog to go that makes the difference.

How does the money or business come into play?

I can write whatever my niche is about (travel + health) but it’s not until I contact companies or they contact me that I can make an income. See when I travel I use different products or services. I also use online business services like email providers, ebooks I’ve purchased etc. When I work with those companies travel related or not and someone buys their service through a link I provide, I get a commission.

That is how majority of online entrepreneurs make cashola!

How do I know who to contact?

I literally just email or message the company of the products/services I use and love, to see if they want to work together. Some have programs already built for people like me so all you do is apply, but for those that don’t it’s all about email or messaging them. It’s cheaper for companies to have personal ambassadors or entrepreneurs market and share their products than it would be to take out a chunk of $$ and spend it on a traditional ad.

Where does social media come in?

Well you can use social media as leverage to work with companies. I use Pinterest mostly for my business to bring lovely people to my site and offer them tips, travel tricks, health tips, etc. Because of my numbers on Pinterest and Instagram I can use my reach to provide these companies with the eyeballs to their products I love.

It’s Not All Sunshine and Rainbows

Now like I said there was a learning curve and I worked hard to try to figure out this online business thing on my own. I worked a full-time job and started blogging at the same time. Any break I had I was on my computer trying to figure out how I could make this dream I had a reality. That dream is to travel more and be location independent.

I met another online entrepreneur and she introduced me to an online training that helped her. She became my mentor so to speak and the training helped me in all aspects of my business. The best part was it was flexible and I could apply it to my own path!

I now have my own Pinterest course in that same program I started out in! I only started my blog a year ago so it goes to show how fast it can take off if you have the right tools.
