How Pinterest and Blogging Work Together

Blogging has turned into a huge and profitable form of income for many people. Now it’s not just about putting up content and people will automatically see it and respond. In order for people to actually come across your blog you need to generate what’s called traffic. Traffic is the amount of eyeballs you can get to your site by leading people from a social media source like Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, etc. I’ll go over how Pinterest works for bloggers and creators to gain traffic to their blogs, products, apps, and other content.

What is Pinterest?

Pinterest is a Search Engine and less of a social media platform. Because it’s search based your content can stay relevant for longer periods of time! You can create a Pin which is an image based idea that will grab the users attention. That pin will describe what your post, product/service are about to create curiosity and have someone click through to the link you can attach.

The more you start to create the more you will see that organization is key and can group your common pins together in a Board. These are important because it makes it easy to share the same content across several boards increasing the possibility that your Pin will be seen.

Blogging For Pinterest

Use Pin images that you post on Pinterest in the article. That can make it more cohesive and trustworthy. People like to also see similar colors in the Pin as the article or product pages you create. You’re not just a business and they aren’t just customers. You are there to have a relationship with people and offer something that they need. Whether it be information, a product/service, apps, etc.

With any relationship they need to know they can trust you and be able to see the value in what it is you’re offering. So many companies blast info and sales at you that it gets overwhelming and it’s a huge turn off for me and the reason I personally don’t buy a product. Yes you can make money online but there are better ways to do it without bombarding your viewers and that takes time. For more about blogging in general read my post about the Benefits of Blogging.

Traffic, Traffic, Traffic

Now there is a lot more to blogging and Pinterest than just making it aesthetically pleasing. That’s where this thing called SEO comes into play. If you have been researching blogging and using Pinterest then SEO will become your close friend. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Pinterest is a Search Engine so that means you are making your content have key words in the article and pins to make it highly searchable. Keep it simple at first and just look at what the trending topics are and what words you could use to drive those users to your page.
