Top 10 Ways To Stay Healthy During Quarantine

Being in isolation is a bummer but it’s necessary to try and flatten the curve for the COVID-19 Epidemic. We are all just trying to do our best to stay inside and find things to do and stay occupied. I made a list of my top ways to stay healthy in quarantine.

Exercise

Keeping your body active is important as we are in self isolation. As a Pilate’s instructor I have been doing sessions virtually to help give classes and motivation. I know that we might not be feeling high energy right now and that’s ok, I’ve felt that too. Just know you have options to exercise, boost your metabolism, and take each day at a time.

For exercise Private Sessions you can book those with me to find a time that works with your quarantine schedule. BOOK WITH ME

Stretch

Stretching is just as important because we are all tense, have anxiety, and tension built up within our bodies. This activity can make you feel better with little effort or energy to use.

From fascia release techniques which go further than stretching and destress classes you can find what works best for you. Sign up below

Go For A Walk

Walking is great but remember SIX FEET APART. Going for a walk is great to get the heart rate going, have time outside, and refresh your mind from being indoors. This can be an easy and simple way to stay healthy in quarantine.

Eat Right

Pick the healthy things in your grocery order not just the Flaming Hot Cheetos. No judgement here it’s all about balance. So add that bag to the cart but also think about healthy meals you can cook that are easy to make.

I love getting recipes from Pinterest or Minimalist Baker who has healthy, easy to make recipes and with little ingredients. It might be hard to find everything at the grocery store so you can always sub out anything that works.

Drink Lots of Water

I am guilty of slacking on this myself but I know it’s good for you and should be doing more of it. Staying hydrated not just with wine or Whiteclaw can help your body to stay healthy. Nothing wrong with drinking both wine and water during quarantine if you’re of age of course!!

Act Like a Kid

Coloring can be so therapeutic!! I have a coloring book, some crayons, and markers to help me destress. Whatever you can find will work. It can even be blank computer paper with a pen.

An art technique to try.

  1. Take a blank sheet of paper
  2. Draw a large circle
  3. Close your eyes
  4. Draw on the page making all sorts of marks and swoops

When you’re done you can see what you came up with and the beauty of it being a circle is you can turn it all different ways and it will look different each time.

Netflix and Isolate

Watch Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and binge on some television. Sometimes we need that break from feeling overwhelmed. Just be aware of what you’re consuming because depending on what it is could add to your anxiety.

Read a Book

Reading a good book can be another form of escapism but you can also learn something new, gain a different perspective, and find something beautiful within someone else’s story. Great resource for books is Good Reads app.

Journal

It doesn’t have to be deep but journal about what you are feeling and doing during isolation. Not only will you be able to look back at what things were really like right now but it can also be therapeutic.

Connect with Friends

Zoom has taken over most everyone’s lives at this point, but there are other ways to connect as well.

  1. Facebook Messenger
  2. WhatsApp
  3. Instagram Messages
  4. Zoom
  5. Google Hangouts

We are social beings and I think we have realized just how much we are built to seek connection. Without being able to come together in person we can still come together virtually to connect in different ways.
