Flight Prediction Apps

I use Hopper to help me book flights at the right time. The flight prediction app gives you a breakdown of the best times to fly, watches your trip to tell you if prices will go up/down, and tell you when to buy. This app has saved me a lot of time and money watching the flights for me and then all I have to do is go in and buy!

Skyscanner is another great tool for cheap flights. The app complies flights from all airlines and presents you with the cheapest options first. You can also watch your flights and get alerts if the price goes up/down. I have used Skyscanner many times and it was been worth it! I flew from LAX to Bangkok for only $380!!

Travel Card

I love getting to use travel points! You can use travel points from a credit card to book flights, hotels, upgrade on flights and luggage protection. I have a Chase Sapphire Preferred Card which I love and use for ALL of my travel purchases because you get double the points. I usually use my points on overseas flights since they are more expensive. I got 50,000 points for spending a certain amount in the first 4 months!

That means I can fly internationally and have points left over for a domestic flight if I want to use it for one. The good thing about Chase is it’s widely accepted so you don’t have a hard time transferring points to buy that airline ticket, hotel, or car rental.

Airbnb

I love Airbnb! I have stayed in an Airbnb in plenty of places. (US, Italy, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia) I did my research and read reviews and made sure they were in the right area but I haven’t had any snags with it yet! I usually book with Superhosts because you know they are trusted and have been hosting for awhile.

The App will also send you notifications if that time/area is booking up fast for you travel dates. You pick a destination, price range, number of guests, etc. If you have a large group you can also split the payments between you so one person isn’t stuck with the bill. That is probably one of my favorite features!!

Hostel World

If you want something a little more social and possibly cheaper (it depends), then start thinking about staying in a hostel. I know I know, if you have never stayed in a hostel before you might be thinking what I used to. Hostels are dirty, dingy, sketchy, etc. Don’t get me wrong those hostels do exist haha but that’s why I love Hostel World.

They give you ratings on Hostels, best prices, and info to make the right decision for your trip and budget. I used the app and stayed at places across SE Asia.

WhatsApp

Most cellphone providers will try and get you to buy an international package but the best way to save money is by using WhatsApp. I have used it on all of my travels and it works on Wifi. The only disadvantage is you can’t use data when you are away from wifi. I would download the city in my Maps to work offline so that I didn’t have any issues navigating.

If you are in one country for more than a month I would then recommend getting a sim card in that country. If you’re traveling to several places that option wouldn’t be worth it because a lot of countries don’t have the same sim cards which is frustrating but that’s why I use WhatsApp to keep it simple.

Traveling doesn’t have to break the bank and that makes it more enjoyable on your travels. With these Top 5 ways to save you should be on your way! “Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.”
